Min y Mor Bach – History

It is believed that the cottage was built in the early 19 century and was possibly built in the
original grounds of Parrog House (built 1827), the large house to the north which overlooks the sea.  The two newer houses (circa 1900) passed on the approach to Min y Mor Bach were originally named Wellfield and this probably reflects that in the far corner of the garden was a well which served the residence of Parrog House.  The garage is on the site of two old privies and a pig sty – both uncomfortably close to the well!

The cottage was completely rebuilt in 1994/95 with the addition of the new large kitchen and master bedroom above and hall with utility room. The original cottage is effectively now the sitting room and you can see the thickness of the original walls between the hall and sitting room.  The newer extension has been faced using the original stone left over from the renovation works which blends seamlessly with the original stonework.
